2014 - Completed
Well, gentlemen, that was 2014.
We must give a great deal of thanks to The Captain of Captains Mr John Roddy,
his helpers and the catering staff of Park Golf Club for the hospitality shown to the Association in their Centenary year.
We appreciate, immensely, all their hard work and friendship throughout.
Congratulations and well done!
It goes without saying that the events take a great deal of organisation
and time which we all sometimes take for granted.
The Association Committee have worked tirelessly to ensure that the year's events have gone according to plan,
for which they also must be congratulated.
It's been many years since I played the course. The improvements that have been made have added to its prowess
as one of the finest Municipal golf courses in the North West of England, providing a fair test for golfers of all abilities.
The Greenstaff are thanked and commended.

It is with regret that we inform the Membership of the passing of one of our previous members.
Kenneth Lanceley was Captain of Irby in 2009.
He was laid to rest on Friday 24th October 2014
Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

2014 Challenge Match - (2nd Leg)
The second leg of the 2014 Captains' Challenge Match will be contested at
Wirral Ladies Golf Club on Wednesday 8th October from 11am.
Cheshire's representatives have a lead of 314 points to Lancashire's 284 points.
All to play for!

In memory
Eric Thornley passed away on Monday 15th September 2014.
Eric was Captain of Allerton Park Golf Club in 1998
and will be sadly missed by all who have had the pleasure of his
acquaintance and friendship.

2014 Captain's Choice - Completed
The Captain's Choice this year took the format of a 3 Man Scramble
Played on Wednesday 17th September at Southport Municipal Golf Links.
On a glorious and barmy September day, without the prevailing wind, the course
offered little defence to the 9 teams of 3.
Birdies and eagles were in abundance resulting in a photo finish for the top three placings.
Many thanks to the organisers, the Captain and the staff of Park Golf Club for a
most enjoyable day.

A team of four gentlemen from different, Home Clubs played as a team,
recording the best two scores (Stableford Points) for each hole.
The team with the highest points total were the Winners.

2014 Captain's '4' - Completed
Park Golf Club is celebrating its' Centenary this year with a "Golf Festival Week".
Our Captain's FOUR was been included in those celebrations.
Wednesday 18th June at Southport Municipal Golf Links
Park Golf Club staged a "TEAM of FOUR OPEN COMPETITION".
Format - Stableford round with prizes for the best five individual scores.
The four scores of each nominated team were totalled to determine the overall Winning Team.
Full Handicap allowance - MAX 24 (28 for the Association Competition).
The AMMGCC were allocated a block tee time 1pm - 3:30pm.
As well as playing for The Arthur Owen Trophy (individual score) and The John Beamish Trophy (winning team score),
AMMGCC participants' scores also counted in the "TEAM of FOUR OPEN COMPETITION"

2014 Main Golf Day - Childwall (To be updated)
Eagerly awaited by all Association members and by far, the most prestigious and hotly contested
event in our calendar was the Main Golf Day at Childwall on THURSDAY 29th May 2014.
Many, many thanks once again to Childwall Golf Club, its Members and staff for providing
the use of the club's facilities and the Greenstaff for presenting the golf course in fantastic condition.

2014 Challenge Match - (1st Leg complete)
The first leg of the 2014 Captains' Challenge Match was contested at Lee Park Golf Club on Wednesday 9th April.
Following on from last year's victory, Cheshire's representatives have taken the bull by the horns and
taken what seems to be an unassailable lead into the second leg later in the year.
314 points to Lancashire's 284 points.
I'm sure Lancashire will not take this "minor" setback lying down and will strive to overcome the deficit.

2014 - "Race Night" - Completed
Teeing off our events for the 2014 calendar, first event in was a "Race Night"
at Park Golf Club on Wednesday 26th March.
A change to our usual Spring Quiz Night was indeed a great success with over 40 punters in the "main stand".
Some lucky and some not so lucky.
Many thanks to Park Golf Club, the catering staff for providing the hotpot
and the organisers of a most enjoyable evening.

In memory
It with deep regret that we have to inform you all of the loss of our good friend,
Jim Roberts, who passed away on 20th February 2014 at Whiston Hospital.
Jim's health had been waning for the past year and he never fully recovered from the loss of his beloved Jean.
"Lord" Jim (as he was fondly known), was Captain of Allerton Park Golf Club in 2001 and
Captain of the Association in 2005.
He will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of making his acquaintance.

2013 - Completed
Well, gentlemen, that was 2013.
I'm sure I'm not alone, in saying that we have enjoyed immensely, the hospitality shown to the Association by
The Captain of Captains Mr Jim Burrows, his team of helpers and the catering staff of Sherdley Park Golf Club.
They all deserve a great deal of thanks and appreciation for all their hard work and friendship throughout the year.
It goes without saying that the events take a great deal of organisation and time which we all sometimes take for granted.

2013 - November Quiz Night - Completed
The last event in 2013 was a quiz night at Sherdley Park Golf Club on Wednesday 6th November.
Smart, casual dress (hoorah.. "no jacket required" - who's album was that?). Please invite family and friends. Usually teams of four but some manage to add one or two ringers under the table! (No names!).

2013 Ladies' Evening - Completed
A most enjoyable Ladies' Evening was held on Saturday 12th OCTOBER - at CHILDWALL GOLF CLUB.
Many thanks to Childwall Golf Club for allowing, once again, the use of The James Braide Suite and the Clubhouse to stage this special event in our calendar.
We had a great turnout and was delightfully entertained throughout the evening by Francesca Georgeson with a selection of songs from our childhood (50's and 60's).
Appreciation must also go to the catering staff for an excellent meal and service, complemented by the attentive bar staff.
The Captain Mr. James Burrows and his wife Diane were honoured to be joined on the top table by Jackie Roberts (Fred's wife), John Tarbuck (President-Arrowe Park) and his wife Jess, who all enjoyed the evening immensely. Most of all though, it wouldn't be a Ladies' Evening without the Ladies! The Captain, Committee and members of the association would like to thank you all for your splendour on the night and hope you enjoyed yourselves. We look forward to seeing you all next year.

2013 Captain's Choice - Completed
The Captain's Choice this year took the format of a 3 Man Calcutta - played on Wednesday 11th September at SherdleyPark, St. Helens.
The early starters benefited from at least an hours dry conditions before the forcasted weather front moved in and stayed there for the rest of the day.
The rain, you know, that fine rain that gets you wet, was persistent to say the least!
However, a little rain did not deter from some excellent golf, on once again, a well presented Sherdley Park Golf Course. The greens were a lot quicker this time round which, I'm sure helped the scoring and the enjoyment of the course as a whole. Well done to the greenstaff.
Thanks once again to the catering staff for providing the marvellous buffet.

Announcement
It is with deep sadness that we have learned of the death of Arthur Kenny Esq.
Arthur was a Captain of Allerton Park Golf Club and was Captain of the AMMGCC in 1992.
He will be sadly missed and always remembered.

The CALCUTTA - Played on Wednesday 14th August at SherdleyPark, St. Helens.
The format for the competition was a 4 player team Calcutta. A team of four gentlemen from different Home Clubs played as a team, recording the best score (Stableford Points) for each of the first 6 holes, the best two scores for the next 6 holes and the best three scores for the final 6. The team with the highest points total were the Winners.

2013 Ladies Invitation - Completed
Once again, the weather did not disappoint us for the Ladies Invitation Calcutta played on Wednesday 17th July. The intended format for the competition of a 4 player team of two ladies and two gentlemen, had to be slightly amended but did not, in any way, detract from what was a fantastic afternoon's (and early evening's) golf. The scoring format was unaltered; recording the best score (Stableford Points) for each of the first 6 holes, the best two scores for the next 6 holes and the best three scores for the final 6. Some teams of three players requiring a "ghost" player's score to even things out. The course once again was in excellent condition considering the dry spell we are all enjoying. Many congratulations to the Winning Teams, and all who took part on the day. A big thanks also to Sherdley Park Golf Club for the wonderful buffet and use of their facilities, but most of all, a special thank you to all the ladies who attended, played some brilliant golf and made the event what it is and will always be - a huge success, as ever.

2013 Captain's '4' - Completed
Bathed in sunshine, the Captains '4' competition was played on Wednesday 19th June. 45 competitors took part in the first of four competitions being staged at Sherdley Park this year. The course was well presented and proved to be a stern test on the day, (especially the greens!), with only 3 players breaking par with their nett score. Congratulations to the Winning 4 Man Team, the Individual Winner and all who took part on the day. A big thanks also to Sherdley Park Golf Club for their attendance, the wonderful buffet and use of their facilities.

2013 Main Golf Day - Completed
Our Main Golf Day was staged at Childwall Golf Club on Thursday 30th May 2013. The weather played its part and helped to ensure what was a great day for all concerned. The golf course did not disappoint and provided a true and fair test for all. The AMMGCC thank Childwall Golf Club for the fabulous food and hospitality it provided throughout the day and look forward to next year's event. Congratulations, not only to the prize winners but all who took part for continuing to make this day a very special occasion in our calendar.

2012 4BBB Charity Knockout Final - Completed
Due to the "slightly" inclement weather in 2012 the 4BBB Charity Knockout Final could not take place when planned but was finally played on Sunday 26th May 2013 at Brackenwood Golf Course. The teams involved where Ellesmere Port GC and Dudley GC. Luckily the rain stayed away and play began. Ellesmere Port won the first game out with Dudley winning the second on the 18th hole. Two players from each club were selected to go into the play-off. Following the 1st and 2nd holes being halved with pars, Dudley secured victory on the 3rd. Congratulations to both teams for participating in a well fought final.

2013 Challenge Matches
The first leg of the Captains' Challenge Matches was played at Lee Park Golf Club on Wednesday 10th April in perfect golfing conditions, the course was in surprisingly good condition considering the recent bad weather, the greens were very tricky and most found them very speedy, a great score and best of the day was 40 points, achieved by the pairing from St Michaels of Alan Pritchard & Mark Moss of The Cheshire team, the best Lancashire score was achieved by Fran Myatt & Les Hornby of Allerton with a respectable 37 points.
The nearest the pin on the 2nd hole was won by Derek Sindall of The Warren and on the 10th hole was won by Steve Lomas of Arrowe park. The Cheshire team achieved a total of 302 points against a total of 278 compiled by the Lancashire team.
Its all to play for at the halfway stage, the second leg is at Wirral Ladies Golf Club on 9th October, spectators most welcome.
