2021 News and Announcements

Update 23rd March 2021

The AMMGCC Secretary and Childwall Golf Club have come to a decision to postpone our Main Golf Day until Thursday 9th September 2021. For the safety of all.

This will now allow us to hold our most anticipated and prestigious day as intended.

18 Holes of golf on a Shotgun start, donning our Captain's jackets for an evening meal, the usual banter and prize giving ceremony.

Let us make this year's event a memorable one, coming after this awful pandemic that has affected us all in so many ways.

Let us come together on this day to reinforce the strength of our beloved association in its 40th year.

Welcome Back.

It's been a difficult and hugely sad time for many of us. A period we will never forget.

We are all guilty of taking so much in our lives for granted which we only miss it when it's taken away; our freedom to go anywhere and meet up with anyone we wish and to simply, shake hands with another human.

Many of us have lost loved ones and friends to this pandemic, long before their time.

Please stay safe and look after yourself.

World Handicap System (details can be found on Handicapping - England Golf )

As we should all know by now, the World Handicap System (WHS) came into effect in November 2020, replacing the CONGU Handicap System.

This now effects the way we play our competitions.

We should all by now, have a "Handicap Index"(H.I). This is not your Handicap.

The H.I. is used in conjunction with the Course and Slope Rating at any golf course you play, where there should be a rating table, either in the Pro Shop or near the 1st Tee.

Depending on what Tee you play from, (Black, White, Yellow, Red), you will then have a Course Handicap (C.H.).

England Golf, who now control our H.I. have recommended different Stroke Allowances, set against the C.H. for different forms of play.

What does that mean for us?

Singles Stableford (i.e. The Main Day at Childwall) we will get 95% of our Course Handicap.

4BBB Stableford (i.e. Challenge Matches) - Each player we will get 85% of their Course Handicap.
